Sometimes it's a mystery to me why mail gets stuck at customs. An incoming pocket letter got a "fine" of €6,38 for being called "papercrafts" 🤦‍♀️

Well the mystery is solved. I received the package and as it turned out the customs form was filled out and marked as mixed goods with a commercial indication of five dollars.

Of course this is a gift, content a pocket letter, and in no means commercial. But this is why it went wrong and I received an invoice for 6.38 euro for it. Four euro for administration costs to make it worth the effort, the rest over the content.

I filled out the PostNl form online in the hope I can get it back 🤞

I received a reply on my "Bezwaar" (objection).

Now we wait:
You have objected to the clearance of your shipment. We have processed your objection and registered it under number xxxxxxxx.

An investigation will be carried out to determine whether your objection is justified. PostNL will inform you about the outcome of this investigation. If your objection is well-founded, we will submit a request to the Import and Excise Department of the Tax and Customs Administration for a refund of the costs. Please note that it may take up to 4 months for this request to be processed. Unfortunately, we cannot request information for you from the Tax Authorities in the meantime.
